About our Recording Process
Our sessions original sessions for Bach in Brazil took place on location at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Broad Creek, MD. Recording sessions for Memories of Compostela and Bach in the Americas were a combination of mostly location recording – Edenton United Methodist Church in Edenton, NC – and a few studio sessions, in Kill Devil Hills NC and in Washington DC.
Location recording engineer Cathy Pescevich (Kreplin) chose hand-built microphones for these projects Microtech Geffel m295s and m296s, and Neumann UM 70s. Her goal was to capture the sound of Gordon’s playing and instruments, and the acoustic beauty of the spaces, with unrivaled naturalness and clarity.
About the Writing
Gordon’s passion for music, language and imaging has shaped an artistic curiosity that reveals itself in the poetry and photography of this collection. His writings and photographs were produced over a thirty-year time span, while touring in the US and abroad, and during an 18-year foray into environmental portraiture and art photography.
