Throughout Gordon’s music career, from Washington DC to Rio de Janeiro, from Lima to Madrid, critics have hailed Gordon Kreplin’s performances as “… transcendent …”, “… making magic …”, and “… exploiting the guitar’s expressive possibilities.”
Music Career – Performance
Kreplin has performed throughout the US, Spain, Portugal and South America. Critics and audiences alike have experienced his performances as having an easy warmth. His performances in Spain and South America were sponsored by the United States Information Service (USIS). Kreplin received an A+ rating from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) and USIS for touring abroad.
Teachers and Teaching
Kreplin’s teachers have included Jose Tomas at the Oscar Espla Conservatory (where he studied for two years), Andres Segovia at Musica de Compostela, and John Marlow at American University.
Kreplin served for four years in the North Carolina Visiting Artist program. He has taught at various universities in the U.S. and in Portugal at El Conservatorio de Horta on the island of Faial, as well as at Ascencion Music Academy, private music school co-founded with Cathy Pescevich Kreplin and serving North Carolina’s Outer Banks community.
Expanding the music – Recording
Together with wife, Cathy Pescevich Kreplin, they established Ascencion Recordings, Inc. in 1995. They released “Bach in Brazil” and “Cathedral” to critical acclaim, receiving airplay on 600+ radio stations worldwide, plus international distribution.
Multi-disciplinary musical artist
In 1989, Kreplin added a second artistic career: photography. Kreplin’s combined passion for music and imaging creates powerful musical storytelling.
