From Washington DC to Rio de Janeiro, from Lima to Madrid, critics have hailed Gordon Kreplin’s performances as “… transcendent …”, “… making magic …”, and “… exploiting the guitar’s expressive possibilities.”
Kreplin has performed throughout the US, Spain, Portugal and South America. Critics and audiences alike have experienced his performances as having an easy warmth. His performances in Spain and South America were sponsored by the United States Information Service (USIS). Kreplin received an A+ rating from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) and USIS for touring abroad.
Kreplin’s teachers have included Jose Tomas at the Oscar Espla Conservatory (where he studied for two years), Andres Segovia at Musica de Compostela, and John Marlow at American University.
Kreplin served for four years in the North Carolina Visiting Artist program. He has taught at various universities in the U.S. and in Portugal at El Conservatorio de Horta on the island of Faial.
After establishing Ascencion Recordings, he and his wife Cathy released several recordings and received airplay on 600+ radio stations worldwide.
In 1989, Kreplin added a second artistic career: photography. Since that time he has gained national recognition as a photographer, having won several awards from Kodak, LexJet and ASP. He was granted status as an international judge for Professional Photographers of American (PPA), and has himself won five PPA medals in international competition.
Kreplin’s combined passion for music and imaging creates powerful musical storytelling.
